Join Us For A Live Question & Answer Session about Hawk Talk Visualizations
January 27, 2020
The Bird Cams Lab team invites the community to join us for a live discussion about the preliminary findings from the Hawk Talk project. We invite you to simply listen in, ask questions, or point out neat things you’ve noticed.
In 2018, we embarked on a scientific investigation with the Red-tailed Hawk cam community. We talked about what we saw on the cam and the questions that came to mind. Then, the community voted on a research question to pursue and collect data to answer:
Do hawks use different kinds of calls in different situations at the nest?
We joined forces with volunteers on Zooniverse and collected data from over 8,000 clips of footage from the first week after the nestlings hatched. Once we finished that in 2019 the Bird Cams Lab team set to work to create visualizations that would allow us to explore the data together.
The Hawk Talk community has had a couple weeks to explore these visualizations and now we’d like to invite everyone to join us in a live discussion about what the visualizations can tell us. We want to talk through what the data mean and any questions you might have.
See below for the details for when and where the Live Q&A will be held.
