Over 1,000 volunteers finish collecting data ahead of schedule!

We’re super excited to announce that Battling Birds: Panama Edition finished collecting data last week. We were completely taken by surprise because we had estimated that data collection would finish this week.

The early completion of data collection was made possible by the 1,346 people who completed 134,848 classifications on 18,218 video clips! A huge thank you to everyone who participated, both by collecting data and being a part of the community on the Talk Boards.

We’ll now export the data so that we can start to understand the social dominance relationships of each species and create what is known as a “dominance hierarchy.” Then, we’ll bring the community together to explore and interpret the results. If you’re interested in seeing the data  you and the community collected, we invite you to reach out to us.

In the meantime, you can continue engaging on the Talk Boards or enjoy watching your favorite birds live on the Panama Fruit Feeder cam.
