Legend

The title of this chart is “Downy Woodpecker (Displacements).” This is a horizontal, clustered bar chart with the number of displacements on the x-axis (horizontal axis) and species interacted with on the y-axis (vertical axis). There are two data sets displayed as two different colored bars. The light blue bars show the number of displacements that the Downy Woodpecker initiated and the orange bars show the number of displacements that the Downy Woodpecker was the receiver, or target, in. The Downy Woodpecker initiated displacements against its own species and the American Goldfinch, and was the target of displacements by its own species and European Starlings.

Reading the Graph: Who do Downy Woodpeckers  interact with? The orange bars show the displacements that Downy Woodpeckers  initiated as the “source,” and the light blue bars show the displacements that Downy Woodpeckers received or were the “target” in. For example, Downy Woodpeckers were the target in one displacement with European Starlings. The length of each bar indicates the number of displacements and the species listed on the left are the species that the Downy Woodpecker interacted with in these displacements.
