Do Adult Vocalizations Depend on the Situation?
Reading the Graph: What vocalizations do adults use in different situations? Find out and see if you notice any other patterns by simplifying the graph with the interactive feature. Look for the checked boxes under “Choose What to Display,” and toggle on and off the different choices to see if you notice any patterns.
Notes: The percentage of clips for each colored bar refers to the clips with that type of vocalization out of all clips recorded with adult vocalizations during that situation. For example, out of all the clips with adults vocalizing during brooding, 67% included chwirking only. (N=the number of clips, which varies from category to category since adults vocalize during some events more than others). “Unsure” refers to when there was a vocalization but there was no agreement on what it was.
We have not shown data for “Prey Transfer” because no such events were recorded. Other categories are also not visible because the number of clips in which there was a vocalization was N=1, an extremely small sample size.
