Reading the Graph: Who do Blue Jays try to displace? Recall a displacement is when one bird tries to dislodge another bird and it can be either successful or unsuccessful. The orange bars show displacements in which the Blue Jay was successful and the blue bars show the displacements in which the Blue Jay was unsuccessful. The length of each bar indicates the number of displacements and the species listed on the vertical axis are the species that the Blue Jay tried to displace.
