Legend

The title of this chart is “American Goldfinch (Displacements).” This is a horizontal, clustered bar chart with the number of displacements on the x-axis (horizontal axis) and species interacted with on the y-axis (vertical axis). There are two datasets displayed as two different colored bars. The light blue bars show the number of displacements that the American Goldfinch initiated and the orange bars show the number of displacements that the American Goldfinch was the receiver, or target, in. The American Goldfinch only initiated displacements against its own species and was the target of displacements from its own species, the Downy Woodpecker, Tufted Titmouse, House Finch, and Red-bellied Woodpecker.

Reading the Graph: Who do American Goldfinches interact with? The orange bars show the displacements that American Goldfinches initiated as the “source,” and the light blue bars show the displacements that American Goldfinches received or were the “target” in. For example, the American Goldfinch was the target of a House Finch in five displacements. The length of each bar indicates the number of displacements and the species listed on the left are the species that the American Goldfinch interacted with in these displacements.
