The title of this chart is “Mourning Dove (Displacements).” This is a horizontal, clustered bar chart with the number of displacements on the x-axis (horizontal axis) and species interacted with on the y-axis (vertical axis). There are two data sets displayed as two different colored bars. The light blue bars show the number of displacements that the Mourning Dove initiated and the orange bars show the number of displacements that the Mourning Dove was the receiver, or target, in. Mourning Doves were the initiator in displacements against European Starlings, Northern Cardinals, and its own species. Mourning Doves were the receiver of displacements with Blue Jays, European Starlings, Red-winged Blackbirds, and its own species.

Reading the Graph: Who do Mourning Doves interact with? The light blue bars show the displacements that Mourning Doves initiated as the “source,” and the dark blue bars show the displacements that Mourning Doves received or were the “target” in. For example, Mourning Doves were the target in nine displacements with European Starlings. The length of each bar indicates the number of displacements and the species listed on the left are the species that the Mourning Dove interacted with in these displacements.
